Improving Youself

Every day provides an opportunity to improve careers, finances, and lifestyles. Start by doing a y self-assessment and then create goals to achieve during the year. Use the following tips to inspire your tactics for a better life. Consult the resources below the list to help implement your strategy.

Tips
Get Automated —Use practice management software to automate accounting, billing, communications, dockets, and intake.
Keep a Calendar —Keep track of appointments with a calendaring app, day planner, or desk calendar. Consider cloud-based apps that can be shared with others and viewed on your personal computer, smartphone, and other devices. Create group calendars for work and home.
Reduce Distractions—Switch off the notification feature on devices to stay focused and reduce anxiety. Use the do-not-disturb feature on cell phones to avoid interruptions from calls and texts. Curate news on social media to limit time spent viewing them.
Set Goals —Set measurable goals that can be tied to delegating workloads, increasing family time, improving client intake, and reducing screen time. Review progress on them periodically throughout the year.
Show AppreciationSay kind words to co-workers and family to recognize their accomplishments. Thank clients for their cases with a greeting card.
Start Journaling —Keep a daily journal of activities and aspirations with a personal blog or diary. Periodically review the journal to assess your strengths and weaknesses
Stay Connected —Reach out to family and friends on a regular basis to stay connected. Make more time available for meals, calls, and face-to-face activities with them.
Take Notes—Take note of conversations, developments, and observations with a note-taking app or pocket diary. Review the notes on a daily basis to add items to calendars and create to-do lists.
Think Positive —Maintain a positive outlook to overcome obstacles. Make helpful suggestions to other lawyers and staff. Play soothing music while working and take daily meditation breaks. These will all help you to stay positive.
Use Checklists—Create checklists for repetitive tasks and significant projects. They help to assure action needed for successful outcomes.
Volunteer for Pro Bono Work —Gain a sense of accomplishment by volunteering your time for pro bono and bar activities. Volunteer activities can improve your self-esteem and make the world a better place.
